About Me

My name is Stephanie Gutierrez, formerly Stephanie Spear.

My passion lies at the intersection of technology, pop culture, and writing. I combine my excitement for social media and new technology with my love of music, television, crafting, and cooking to develop and implement innovative and effective on-going social media and web content strategy for high-profile celebrity brands. I currently work for EQAL Media Networks, part of Everyday Health, and oversee three celebrity websites and their corresponding social media strategy.

How did I get here?

To gain experience in the entertainment industry, I started a music blog called Addicted to Shows in 2008. I worked with twenty different writers and photographers, coordinating coverage for album reviews, live shows, and festivals, including Sasquatch Festival and Warped Tour, and presenting live shows in Los Angeles.  Addicted2Shows.com is proudly included in blog aggregators Elbo.ws and WeAreHunted.com.

I honed my project management, public relations, and client relations skills working as a publicist for a boutique music marketing company, called Planetary Group where I primarily focused on online music publications and music influencers. I worked with independent artists from a variety of genres, ranging from electronic to indie rock and alternative to hip hop. I had the opportunity to work with amazing artists like The Jezabels, Said the Whale, Big Black Delta, Sleeping in the Aviary, Eastern Conference Champions, Caroline Smith and the Good Night Sleeps, Rah Rah, Chasing Kings, Imaginary Cities, Margaret Cho, Saint Motel, and many many others. Through these artists, I was able to connect with some of the biggest tastemakers in the industry, including Pitchfork, The A.V. Club, and Consequence of Sound and form some invaluable relationships.

I was then recruited by EQAL Media to manage several celebrity entertainment and lifestyle websites for talent including Elizabeth Banks,Bethenny Frankel, and Alicia Silverstone. During my time at EQAL I worked on 10 different celebrity websites and corresponding social media channels on content and strategy.

I joined The Queen Latifah Show digital team several months before show launch and was able to build the social media strategy from the ground up, coordinating with Sony Marketing, Sony Programming, and show Producers. I was constantly refining the social media strategy to drive tune-in to the show, traffic to the website, and most importantly, build Queen Latifah’s brand.

I then worked to develop both short and longterm digital campaigns for CPG and entertainment brands as the Associate Director, Social Media at Digital Kitchen, with a big focus on emerging CPG brand Califia Farms.

When I’m not working, you’ll probably find me experimenting with a new plant-based recipe, watching 30 Rock on Netflix, hiking in Griffith Park, shopping for antiques and vintage stuff, or crafting (probably something I found on Pinterest), while downing whole pots of tea.
